As you make plans to hire students and young people for summer work, you might want to take a peek at the results of the MOL’s new and young workers inspection blitz—especially if you’re in Ontario. The blitz concentrated on industrial, construction and healthcare worksites and was 
conducted last spring (2012). Here are the results:
- 5,452 visits to 4,614 workplaces conducted
- 14,498 orders including 553 stop work orders
- Average of 3.1 orders issued per visit
- 54% of orders for OHS Act violations
- 46% of orders for WHMIS or sector-specific OHS regulations.
