37 weeks' Critically Ill Child Leave to care for a critically ill child family member  

17 weeks' Critically Ill Adult Leave to care for a critically ill adult family member 

10 days' Domestic or Sexualized Violence Leave, the first 5 days of which must be paid for employees with at least 3 months' employment 

15 weeks' Domestic or Sexualized Violence Leave for employees with at least 3 months' employment 

Reservist Leave for as long as necessary for employees to perform their reservist duties 

52 weeks' Crime-Related Child Disappearance Leave if employee's child disappears as a probable result of a crime  

104 weeks' Crime-Related Child Death Leave if employee's child dies as a probable result of a crime  

Vacation

Employee must work 1 full year to be entitled to vacation time 

  • Entitled to 2 weeks of vacation after each of the first year of employment and must be paid at least 4% of vacationable earnings

Stat Holiday Pay Entitlement

To be eligible for stat holiday pay, employees must:  

  • Be employed 30 calendar days before the holiday 
  • Work their last scheduled shift before the holiday and first scheduled shift after the holiday,unless the absence is a sick day or other absence permitted by the ESA 
  • Work on the holiday if called to work 

Stat Holiday Pay Amount

If worked: Either: 

  • Time and a half for the hours worked on the holiday plus a regular day's pay 
  • Regular pay for the hours worked on the holiday plus another paid day off or paid vacation day 

If not worked: Regular day's pay
