Since 2017, 7 different provinces (AB, MB, NS, ON, PEI, QC, SK) have adopted or are in the process of adopting domestic violence leave. Expect many if not most of the other jurisdictions to do likewise in the near future. Result: Employers who don’t already have them will need to implement domestic violence leave policies—either freestanding or as an add-on to their current leaves of absence policy.
