It wasn’t so much his use of dating apps for gay men; it was that he identified himself as a UBC employee into “Geeks, College and Twinks” that got the 53-year-old academic advisor fired. He also acknowledged that he used the app to “hook up” with 20 UBC students, including one of his former advisees. The BC Human Rights Tribunal rejected the advisor’s sexual orientation discrimination complaint and the BC Court of Appeal upheld the decision [Conklin v.
