    Hi Glenn,
If an employee resigns during their working notice period, are they entitled to be paid for the remaining balance of the working notice? I’m curious to know if there is a standard working notice template/letter, that I could refer to which outlines working notice considerations?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes. In Ontario, if an employee is entitled to 4 weeks of notice, based on length of service and the employee resigns giving 1 week of notice, if the employer wishes to terminate the person on the stop, the full 4 weeks is owing.
However, the employer could also just not require the person to report for work for the remaining week.
There is also the question of when the employment ends, i.e. for such things as benefit coverage. If the employer pays out the 4 weeks owing, benefit coverage must continue for those 4 weeks.
If the person is just paid for the final week without having to work, benefit coverage ends once that week is finished.
Hope that answers your question and was worth waiting for. Thx.
