we currently have a covid vaccination policy in our workplace, we located in Manitoba, the vaccine mandate was lifted however some businesses can choose to keep the mandate. We operate a contact centre and were wanting to get an opinion if we should be looking to remove the mandate in our company.

Bearing in mind that I’m not allowed or qualified to offer you legal counsel, my personal opinion is that you should probably not keep the vaccine mandate in place unless there’s a compelling need that there be such a policy at your particular workplace. That theoreticallly could be the case if you’re a health care provider, skilled nursing facility or otherwise providing services to an elderly, immunocompromised or otherwise unusually vulnerable population. A contact centre wouldn’t be on that list. However, keeping the vaccine mandate may still be justified if there’s some kind of compelling reason for needing one, such as a recent outbreak at your site. But if none of these circumstances apply, maintaining the mandate may be unduly intrusive and difficult to justify. Hope that helps and sorry to keep you waiting so long. Glenn
