Do you have any sample or template I can use to write a withdrawal notice of a termination letter? Employees were on LTD for a long time and termination letters were sent to them; however, after reviewing their medical record, which was not initially available, the company decided to withdraw the notice and continue to provide the benefits to them as inactive employees. The legality of these actions was verified by our legal dept.

Yikes! While templates are OK for general policies, they’re highly inadvisable for letters and other direct communications. Those things need to be based on the specific circumstances. I’d suggest asking your legal counsel to draw up a letter you can use. If that’s not an option, be sure your letter:
While you can’t withhold pay, you can and should implement discipline to the extent the employees’ refusal is unreasonable and significantly interferes with your payroll operations. Hopefully, you have HR policies or codes of conduct requiring employees to cooperate and complete necessary payroll and other organizational documentation. I trust these are non-union employees, right? If they are union, contact the union rep and get clarification to see if you’re dealing with some kind of job action. Hope that helps. Glenn
