    Hello,
    An employee we hired in February 2022 has gone on medical leave as of March 08, 2022. They have been off work for one month and have just submitted a new note from their doctor extending the leave (return to work is still unknown at this point). They are still within their 3 month probation. When they are able to return to work, can we extend their probation period to insure a proper performance evaluation occurs?

    Sorry to keep you waiting so long.
    Yes, that does work.
    But our payroll expert recommends that you formally terminate the person and offer them another period of employment when they are prepared to return from the medical leave. Then you can restart a full 3 months period of probation.
