I have an employee who has been unable to return to work due to health issues for the past 27 months. She is awaiting operations that she says cannot be performed due to first COVID, second COVID backlogs and presently, because she is too overweight to have the operation. She is 68 and when called, says she wants to work, but cannot due to her health. Is there a time limit to holding her position? She has made it known to other staff that she doesn’t want to work, but wants a “big buyout” from the company before she will officially retire.

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I was on holidays last week and thought I had coverage. But if your question slipped through the cracks, I’m very sorry. But I’ll be happy to respond if it’s not too late. Glenn glennd@bongarde.com
