Hello, Can you please confirm if an employee accrues vacation days/pay during a temporary layoff in BC? Or would their vacation accrual stop on their last work day and resume when they are recalled to work? Thank you
Hi, During a temporary layoff, an employment relationship is not severed – the employee continues to accrue their statutory and contractual entitlements. “Any employee leave of absence, including temporary layoff, a leave under Part 6 or any other employer authorized leave of absence is included when determining continuous employment for vacation entitlement.” https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/employment-business/employment-standards-advice/employment-standards/forms-resources/igm/esa-part-7-section-57
