Hi there, We have an employee who has worked for us for 1 1/2 years in one of our warehouses as a Machine Operator. He gave written notice he is quitting and his last day in the note is 4 weeks from now. We told him we didn\’t require him to stay so he left that day. Can I just pay out the 2 weeks required by law at that point or am I paying out the 4 weeks? Thanks for your help
Alan, the payroll expert, agrees with my answer above. Only 2 weeks notice required. One issue that might be less clear is whether you have to allow the worker to work during the notice period. But, again, that would apply only for 2, rather than 4 weeks.
