New Year’s day stat holiday – Jan 1, 2022

Hi,
Jan 1 is a stat holiday in Ontario. For 2022, Jan 1 falls on a Saturday. For this year our company is giving us a week off from Monday, Dec 27 – Friday, Dec 31, 2021. Since Jan 1 falls on a Saturday does our Company also have to give off Monday, Jan 3 as a stat holiday (in lieu of Jan 1) or since we gave off Friday, Dec 31 off that will cover Jan 1. Can you confirm.

Yes, the employer in Ontario can unilaterally substitute December 31 for the January 1 public holiday. Does that mean the Xmas and Boxing Day statutory holidays are being substituted with December 28 and 29 as well?
