Hi there, I am wondering how to proceed with international compliance. For example, if we hired a co worker for a company in Canada what compliances practice do they need to sign off on. We have hired an employee from Brazil who works remotely (in Brazil) with us (a Canadian company) based in Toronto, Ontario. If we were to make sure they sign off on policies such as Harassment policies or any other compliant policies, should he be signing all of Ontario’s policies or Brazil’s?

The employee should agree to follow ALL company compliance policies. To the extent he/she has relocated to Canada, you need to make him/her aware of all your HR policies and have him/her sign an acknowledgement of having read, understood and agreed to follow them. Basically, treat the employee the way you do your regular Canadian employees and have him/her sign whatever papers you ask those Canadian employees to sign.
