Since the employee will be legally unemployed and that would be the reason they receive EI payments, would it be still legal to pay the employee on their maternity leave a certain amount bi-weekly as a company top-up benefit or should it be calculated and paid lump sum before the leave starts?
What are the common ways that employers pay benefits to their employees whom are on Maternity or parental leave?
