In the province of Alberta, if an employee gives one month notice but the employer decides to terminate immediately, is the employer required to pay one month in lieu or two weeks? The employee has been with the company for less than a year.

Unless there’s something in the contract requiring termination notice beyond what’s required by the ESC, in Alberta, you only have to give an employee with less than 12 months’ service ONE week of termination notice.
