Can you advise legally how to pay out a quarterly bonus to an employee who is on STD (so justified).  Do we pro-rate the payment as to the time they were working i.e. worked 1 of the 3 months?  And if not do we pay on total base comp i.e. 1 month full wage and 2 months of STD wage.   Thank you.

I've relayed your question to our payroll expert and we'll get back to you as soon as I hear back from him. Thanks for your patience.

Here you go. Feel free to follow up with me directly if this doesn't help.  **** Alan McEwan I would think the full bonus amount is payable. It would be discrimination based on illness or injury if the amount was reduced on account of the STD. I’m assuming the terms and conditions of the bonus make no distinction between active and inactive employment.

Thank you that was what I was thinking, and yes there is no distinction. Thinking I need to look at implementing a new policy on this.
