We are a business in ON and wanted to understand for pay equity review purposes, do we compare just the base salaries? or would we be comparing an employee’s total package (include any additional bonus, stock options and other benefits) as a the ‘pay’?
The whole package. In other words count compensation, which includes not just base salary or wage but also benefits that are paid to a person who performs that position. Here’s the Pay Equity Act definition of “compensation: all payments and benefits paid or provided to or for the benefit of a person who performs functions that entitle the person to be paid a fixed or ascertainable amount.”
