Hi, we have a full-time employee that is on STD leave for an ENT issue. The company has been very understanding and has offered her any accommodations that she may require (assistive devices or any other support) to help. The employee has requested to return to work with shortened hours of work (5 hours/day) as the only accommodation. Does this constitute as a change in working conditions? Does the employer have the right to ask how the request for shortened hours of work will help the employee in improving their condition? What is the ideal way to proceed in this case?
