Using Playboy Photos in Safety Training Is Grounds for Sex Harassment

A veteran safety trainer thought it would be a good idea to include nude photos of women in his presentation to “relax his audience.” The lone female trainee in the audience was not amused and sued the trainer and BC Ministry that hired him. The BC Human Rights Tribunal dismissed the case against the Ministry but ruled that the case against the instructor for sexually harassing the trainee could go to trial [Pitcher v. BC (Ministry of Forests), [2012] BCHRT 70 (CanLII), March 12, 2012].
