The government outlined the design features of the new Ontario Retirement Pension Plan designed to provide retirement coverage for Ontarians who don’t have access to a pension plan through their workplace:

• Minimum contribution threshold for qualifying plans, including DCs
• Phased enrolment
• Funding via equal co-contributions from both employers and employees
• Benefits to be paid starting in 2022.
