Right Shoulder Injury Is Work-Related, Left Shoulder Injury Isn’t

An Alberta employee claimed he suffered a rotator cuff injury to his left shoulder during rehab for a work-related injury to his right shoulder. The Appeals Commission said the left shoulder injury wasn’t work-related, noting that the employee hadn’t complained about the left shoulder until 6 months after injuring his right shoulder. And the medical evidence didn’t support his claim that he hurt the left shoulder during rehab [Decision No.: 2012-229, [2012] CanLII 11166 (AB WCAC), March 8, 2012].
