Recommendations for Improving Inspections and Investigations

The WorkSafeBC Review and Action plan was released making 43 recommendations for improving inspections and investigations. A request from the Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and the Minister Responsible for Labour precipitated the report. The request listed six priorities for review following tragic events involving sawmills. Recommendations included:

• Developing health and safety policies addressing combustible dust hazards
• Establishing compliance plans for sawmills
• Planning ongoing inspection of wood product manufacturers and pellet mills and enforcement efforts to ensure compliance
