LAWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dec. 11: Call it a sign of the times. Signs have been posted outside 21 Yukon government building single-stall washrooms in Whitehorse to identify them as gender-neutral. No traditional male and female profiles; all the signs depict is the toilet itself.
Dec..: Yukon’s premiums are the fourth highest in Canada at $1.93 per $100 assessable payroll (behind only Ontario and the other 2 territories). The silver lining: the YWCHSB is dishing out rebates to eligible employers for the third year in a row–$10 million’s worth, to be exact. To qualify, employers must have had an open account with YWCHSB in 2016 that wasn’t in a collections status at the end of that year.
