LAWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Oct. 26: A 70¢ increase that takes effect April 1, 2109 will keep PEI’s minimum wage at the top of the Atlantic provinces at $12.25 per hour.
Nov. 5: The 2019 average assessment will be $1.58 per $100 payroll, 2¢ below last year’s rate. Calculated strictly on the basis of actual costs, the average would be $1.66 but because of the system’s strong financial position, the WCB was able to apply an 8¢ downward adjustment. In addition to lower rates, the WCB will distribute a share of the surplus to eligible employers during November.
