LAWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
July 12: From now through Aug. 27, the government will hold hearings before adopting regulations to implement newly adopted Bill 116 which provides 3 days of paid ESA leave to employees who suffer domestic violence. Other ESA issues on the table:
- Reducing the eligibility requirement for sick leave
- Extending the duration of parental and compassionate care leave.
June 27: The PEI government got a lackluster grade of B- on its 2018 Equality Report Card evaluating its progress in bridging the gender gap and combatting violence against women.
July 6: The WCB revised the following policies in accordance with new laws making PTSD and other mental disorders presumably work-related for workers exposed to traumatic events at work and properly diagnosed in accordance with DSM-5 American Psychiatric Assoc. guidelines:
- Psychological or Psychiatric Condition (POL-01)
- Time Frame Limitations for Claims Filing and Invoicing (POL-90).
