Quebec – Banking time
Ask the ExpertCategory: QuestionsQuebec – Banking time

We have a few clerical type roles that we allow banking of time to help off-set time when needed away from work for things like doctor, dentist appointments.  These folks are all paid by salary and are expected to work a 40 hour work-week (paid bi-weekly).  If an employee doesn't show up for work due to weather (not comfortable driving in snow) are we able to mandate payment to them from their banked hours?

Forgive me for the long delay but there was some confusion and miscommunication on our end. Our payroll expert, Alan McEwen, advises that you can engage in overtime banking in Quebec as long as the employee agrees. Sorry again to keep you waiting. Glenn
