Hi, can employee be terminated after he was on sick leave due to covid-19 and later on EI? We downsized and have no work for him, He was with the company for 3+ years. We are non-union small business.

Can you please clarify this a little so I can answer your question. Is the employee currently on COVID leave? What is his/her exact current employment status? Is absence of work the sole reason for termination?  And which jurisdiction are you in? Thanks.
