Due Diligence and Worker Training

Recorded: Wednesday Oct. 19, 2016
Speaker: David Marchione, OHS Consultant, Fasken Martineau

Canadian OHS laws require employers to provide workers with information and instruction for their protection, and to take every precaution reasonable to ensure their health and safety. The duty to provide information and instruction—that is, training—to workers fulfills their right to know, one of the tenets of the internal responsibility system.

This one-hour webinar will review the legal duties of employers surrounding worker training and will provide practical advice on how employers can move toward due diligence with respect to that training. Topics to be covered will include:

  • Minimum health and safety training requirements.
  • Workplace specific hazard training.
  • Training as it applies to contractors.
