BC Top Court Nixes Pizza Hut Employee’s Harassment Claim

A Pizza Hut employee complained to her store manager about being bullied and harassed at work. She then complained to WorkSafeBC that the area manager’s investigation into her complaint was inadequate. The OHS officer concluded that the company took reasonable steps to prevent and minimize workplace harassment. So, she took her case to the WCB Review Division, which confirmed the officer’s decision. Refusing to give up, she played her final card by appealing to the BC Court of Appeal. But it all proved in vain with the high court upholding the WCB ruling as reasonable [Ahluwalia v. British Columbia (Workers’ Compensation Board), 2022 BCCA 165 (CanLII), May 18, 2022].
