June 1: New public sector employee rights legislation (Bill 29) takes effect in Alberta. Highlights:
- No more exemptions banning 5 classifications of employees from engaging in collective bargaining (to bring Alberta in line with the rest of the country)
- No more restrictions on use of Compulsory Arbitration Boards
- Non-academic staff at post-secondary institutions subject to Labour Relations Code (effective 2022).
